Cowboys practice report: Romo, key defenders miss Cowboys practice, two OL return
Dallas Cowboys starting defensive tackles Tyrone Crawford and Nick Hayden didn’t practice Wednesday at Allianz Park.
It’s cloudy and overcast, with the temperature at 50 degrees, here in London. The Cowboys are practicing in pads and helmets. The Cowboys are practicing on a rugby pitch, so it’s wider than a normal NFL field, and it’s not striped particularly well for American football. The rugby filed is artificial turf and used by Saracens.
Quarterback Tony Romo (two small fractures in his back) and Crawford (sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee) stayed back at the team hotel to get treatment and didn’t travel with the other players to their practice field at Allianz Park.
Linebacker Rolando McClain was on the sideline at the practice field during practice but wasn’t participating. He also has a sprained MCL in his right knee. Hayden was also on the practice field, but he was running and doing some conditioning work during practice and not in uniform. Hayden injured his shoulder in Sunday’s loss to Arizona.
Some good news: Two starting offensive linemen were back practicing for the Cowboys. Right tackle Doug Free (fractured right foot) and left guard Ron Leary (strained groin) were working in practice with the first-team. Leary didn’t play Sunday against Arizona, and Free has missed the last three games. Neither player practiced last week.
Cowboys starting running back DeMarco Murray injured his right pinkie finger in Sunday’s loss to Arizona and had the finger in a splint Tuesday. He was practicing Wednesday, and Garrett said he’s fine.
The Cowboys had defensive tackle Josh Brent in No. 95 for practice.
Just like at Valley Ranch in Irving, the Cowboys have their music blaring for their practice here in London, with We Dem Boyz piped in loud and clear.
