Cowboys’ Dez Bryant: 9-hour flight to London is not my kind of birthday party
Dez Bryant would have preferred to start his 26th birthday in a different way. The Dallas Cowboys wide receiver was with his teammates on a nine-hour flight.
“Oh man, it’s not my kind of party,” Bryant said Tuesday. “I tried sleeping, and I can’t do that. I can’t do it very well, so I watched a couple of movies and I worked my way through it.”
Bryant said he would likely celebrate later in the day with a few teammates at a nice restaurant.
When the Cowboys landed in London Tuesday morning, they immediately headed to a Play 60 event designed to introduce NFL football to local kids.
During the event, a child surprised Bryant by throwing up his signature X celebration with his arms.
“That made me feel real good,” Bryant said. “I’m like yeah, we’re going [international] baby. That’s what I’m talking about.”
Although Bryant has never been to England, he doesn’t have too much sightseeing planned for the trip.
“We’re going to come here and have fun but at the same time we’re going to handle our business,” Bryant said. “Coach Garrett made that very clear to us after the game [Sunday] that we’re here for business. Having this time to enjoy with the kids is special. I don’t think it will be a distraction or take away any of our focus. We know what we’re here for.”
