Defensive snaps against Washington Redskins

Here's a look at the snap counts for each of the Dallas Cowboys' defensive players Monday night:

Bruce Carter returned to the starting lineup after missing three games with a strained quadriceps, but failed to record a single defensive statistic in 34 snaps.

That seems incredibly hard to do, considering he plays on the tight end side of the line of scrimmage, which is the direction most teams run and he played some in the nickel defense.

He's going to have to play better next week because a torn biceps limited Justin Durant to just 45 plays. He had 10 tackles, including two for loss, but is expected to miss the rest of the season.

The Cowboys will probably use rookie Anthony Hitchens to replace Durant at weakside linebacker. Hitchens played only special teams this week.

Anthony Spencer played a season-high 37 snaps after getting a full week of practice. The Cowboys have steadily increased his workload each week, but this is probably getting close to his max, considering he missed much of last season after microfracture surgery.

Rolando McClain seems recovered from his groin strain after playing 63 snaps and getting seven tackles.
