Justin Durant expected to miss about a month

There’s been no shortage of bad news for the Cowboys defense since the start of the offseason and the regular season hasn’t brought any respite.

Linebacker Justin Durant hurt his groin in the team’s season-opening loss to the 49ers and Bryan Broaddus of the team’s website reports that he’s expected to miss 3-4 weeks while he recovers.

Durant opened camp as the middle linebacker as the team searched for a replacement for Sean Lee, but moved outside once the team decided to go with Rolando McClain in Lee’s usual spot. He had eight tackles and a pass breakup in the opener.

With Durant out of the lineup, the Cowboys can turn back to Kyle Wilber. He was pencilled into a starting role before the Cowboys shuffled the deck by installing McClain, although the Cowboys also have Korey Toomer and Anthony Hitchens on the roster should they decide to go in a different direction.

The Cowboys travel to Tennessee for a date with the Titans on Sunday.
