Cowboys remain America’s (favorite) team
According to SportsBusiness Daily, a recent Harris Poll shows that the Cowboys remain the most popular team among American football fans.
The Cowboys remained on top since the last time the poll was conducted in 2011, even though the team hasn’t been to the playoffs since 2009.
The Packers climbed from No. 3 to No. 2, with the Broncos shooting from a tie for No. 17 to No. 3. (“But do they have multiple Super Bowl rings?” Jim Irsay possibly would say, before remembering that they in fact do.)
The Colts, in turn, dropped from No. 6 to No. 19.
Also dropping five or more spots were the Steelers (No. 2 to No. 7), the Redskins (No. 8 to No. 14), the Jets (tied for No. 9 to No. 15), the Falcons (No. 15 to No. 20), the Panthers (No. 20 to No. 27), and the Titans (No. 21 to No. 31).
Significant climbers included the 49ers (No. 16 to No. 8), the Seahawks (No. 27 to No. 12), the Raiders (No. 25 to tied for No. 16), and the Bengals (No. 31 to No. 24).
Holding steady at No. 32 were the Jaguars, who are now 2-20 since Shahid Khan bought the team in early 2012.
The Cowboys remain the most popular NFL team among U.S. football fans, followed by the Packers and Broncos, according to results from the most recent Harris Poll. The Cowboys have now topped the list each year since '07 (survey was not conducted in '12). The Packers jumped one spot to No. 2 while the Broncos, no doubt helped by the addition of QB Peyton Manning, jumped 14 spots to No. 3. The Giants and Patriots round out the top five. Also seeing a big jump were the Seahawks, who moved from No. 27 to No. 12. The Colts dropped 13 places to No. 19. For the fourth consecutive survey, the Jaguars ranked last (Harris Poll).
