Could Dez Bryant Become The Top Wide Receiver In The NFL In 2013?
During the offseason, Dez Bryant has definitely talked the talk of being one of the top players in all of the NFL. He has a ton of talent, and most would agree that he is already a top five wide receiver. However, could the former Oklahoma State star actually challenge Calvin Johnson for the title of best
wide receiver in the game?
In his last seven games a season ago, Bryant showed the NFL what he was capable of when his effort was 100% at all times. He caught 47 passes for 792 yards and nine touchdowns. Those stats alone would be great for most receivers during a full season. Project those numbers over 16 games, and you have numbers Johnson can’t even compete with.
When focused, Bryant can do it all. He ran much better routes in the second half of 2012, and Romo hooked up with him often. Dallas is committed to Romo for the long term, and that without question help Bryant’s numbers as well. Most importantly, Romo fully trusts Bryant now, despite that not being the case early on in his NFL career.
Compared to other young stars like AJ Green and Julio Jones, Bryant has the physical tools that make them even look like mere mortals. Bryant falls in the 3-5 range among wide receivers in fantasy football, but he has already stated that he plans to set individual records at his position. Can he pull it off? If focused, nothing seems like a reach for Bryant in 2013.
