Jerry Jones Disappointed In Dallas Cowboys Run Game Vs Cardinals

The Dallas Cowboys fell to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday as they played without injured quarterback Tony Romo and DeMarco Murray had his eight-game streak of 100-yard rushing games, an NFL record, come to an end and Jerry Jones was not pleased about that.

Murray entered the game as the NFL’s leading rusher by a wide margin with an average of 131.8 rushing yards per game while topping the century mark in every game to break the record previously held by NFL legend Jim Brown, but against the No. 1 rush defense of the Cardinals, that streak was snapped as the Cowboys lost 28-17.

Jones had grown accustomed to seeing his offensive lineman blow open huge holes for Murray to run through and didn’t think Murray would have trouble extending that streak against such a tough run defense.

“That’s not disrespectful of the Cardinals,” Jones said via the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. “It’s just we’ve gotten used to being pretty efficient there. So I didn’t have any problem understanding why we were having a tough time running it, because they had it loaded up. But still, I knew that we needed to be persistent, but we also had to hit some big plays.”

With Romo expected back in the lineup for their Week 10 matchup, the threat of a passing game will open up running room for Murray as he looks to start a new streak of 100-yard rushing games.
