Rolando McClain out until Friday due to personal issue

Dallas Cowboys middle linebacker Rolando McClain will not be at the team’s facility until Friday due to a personal issue.

McClain returned to his home state of Alabama on Tuesday to deal with custody issues involving his two children. The Cowboys have known for several weeks that McClain would need these days off.

The Cowboys have made arrangements for McClain, who has been dealing with a sore groin since Week 2, to receive medical treatment during his time away from the team.

McClain, who according to the Cowboys' stats leads the team in tackles (43), tackles for loss (two), interceptions (two) and forced fumbles (one), has missed the Wednesday and Thursday practices in two of the past three weeks due to his groin injury. He performed well on both occasions after practicing Friday.

The difference in this instance is that McClain won’t be able to take part in most of the walk-through practices and meetings during the week as the Cowboys prepare for Sunday’s game against the New York Giants.

“It’s a challenge,” coach Jason Garrett said. “Any time anybody misses anything like that, that’s not a good thing for them or for our team, but those circumstances happen and you have to make the best of them. We’re certainly trying to do that for him.”
