Could the Cowboys Claim/Sign Michael Sam?

The St. Louis Rams cut DE/LB Michael Sam today, and it just so happens the Cowboys could use all the help they can get.

The sensationalism over Sam’s sexual orientation aside, he had a fairly remarkable preseason with 11 tackles and three sacks. At 6’2″ and 261 pounds, Sam is actually the right size to be either a linebacker or a defensive end in the Cowboys 4-3 defense under new defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli – similar to current Cowboys linebacker Kyle Wilber.

With his preseason performance, it would seem that Sam has a decent chance to be picked up on waivers – could the Cowboys be the team that claims him? We will find out in the next day or two
