Cowboys start next phase of offseason

Phase 2 of the Dallas Cowboys' offseason program starts today in which the full coaching staff can be on the field with the players.

In Phase 1, which lasted two weeks, only the strength and conditioning coaches were allowed on the field. Phase 2 runs for three weeks and leads into the organized team activities.

It will mark the first time passing game coordinator Scott Linehan and defensive coordinator Rod Marinelli can put the team on the field to learn the changes to the offense and defense. It will also be the first time Tony Romo will be in a huddle since hurting his back in a Week 16 win against the Washington Redskins last December.

There can be individual player instruction in addition to the full squad. No offense vs. defense drills are allowed but the units can run “perfect play” drills against air.

The first organized team activity is May 26.
