Stand out players that fit the Cowboys draft board from the NFL scouting combine; Day 3

Today is the day where hopefully 3 to 4 of the Cowboys draft picks come from. Now my listing is not a mock draft. I will do a full Dallas mock after the combine is over. These are just my standouts and players that Dallas could pick and where.



Chris Borlan Wisconsin - LB- projected 3rd round pick. 4.83 40 yard dash. 27 bench press.

Borland has been compared to former Miami Dolphins and Cowboys stud linebacker Zach Thomas for much of his career and his instincts and open-field tackling ability warrant the mention. He looked smaller on stage than his official height (5-11 3/8 inches) and weight (245).

Telvin Smith Florida State projected 2nd round pick 4.48 40 yard dash.

Smith fits exactly what we need. Smith is a 4-3 linebacker that is suited to plat the weak side. Smith is a very fast linebacker and some think with his speed he should go to Safety. Where Durant played. Rangy athlete with loose hips and springs in his legs. Closes quickly with a violent attitude and explosive first step. Aggressive blitzer with speed and initial pop to split gaps.

Fluid in his cover drops and plays natural in space. Easy for blockers to underestimate his speed, bursting into the backfield with a fiery temperament. Excellent read/react instincts to diagnose and attack without hesitation. Light, but physical and won't shy from point of attack contact, tackling through his target and taking on blocks to find the quickest route to the ballcarrier.

Aaron Donald Pittsburgh - DE- projected 1st round pick 4.68 40 yard dash. 225 bench press. 32 vertical jump. 9' 3" broad jump. 7.11 3 cone drill. Possibly the Cowboys first pick in he draft.

Timmy Jernigan Florida State - DT - projected 1st round pick. 5.60 40 yard dash 27 bench press. 29 1/2 vertical jump.

Kevin Peirre - Louis Boston College - OLB - projected 6th round 4.51  40 yard dash. 28 bench press. 39 vertical jump. 10'8" broad jump. 6.92 - 3 -cone. 4.02 short shuttle. Pushed himslef out of the 6th round in a good way. May have even slide into the 4th. 

Jordan Tripp Montana - LB - projected 3-4 round. 4.67 40 yard dash. 22 bench press. 37 1/2 vertical jump.10'0" broad jump 6.89 3 cone drill. 3.96 short shuttle

Carron Reid Princeton - DT - projected 4th round pick 4.91 40 yard dash. 20 bench press. 26.50 vertical jump. 8'8" broad jump. 3 cone drill 7.59 Short shuttle.

Reid was a stand out from the Senior Bowl. Showed well at the combine and made a lot of teams take notice. Reid could have pushed himself into the 3rd round.

James Gayle Virginia Tech - DE - projected 5th round. 4.70 40 yard dash. 26 bench press. 37" vertical jump. 7. 67 3 cone drill.

Justin Ellis Louisiana Tech - DT - projected 4-5th round. 5.27 40 yard dash. 25 bench press. 28" vertical jump. 7.81 3 cone drill.

Dee Ford - Did not work out at combine

Kony Ealy Missouri - DE- projected 1st round pick 4.92 40 yard dash. 22 bench press. 31' vertical jump. 3 cone drill 6.83. One of my early 1st round projects for Dallas.
