Tyron Smith Named 2nd Team All-Pro By Associated Press
One week after nabbing his first Pro Bowl selection, Tyron Smith added an All-Pro honor to his resume Friday.
The Cowboys’ third-year tackle was named second-team All-Pro by the Associated Press on Friday morning, alongside Joe Staley of the San Francisco 49ers. The starters at tackle were Joe Thomas of the Cleveland Browns and Jason Peters of the Philadelphia Eagles.
The AP announced the team, as decided by 50 voters, one week after the NFL’s Pro Bowl rosters were announced. Smith was announced as one of six Pro Bowl tackles and one of two Cowboys on the roster, along with fellow offensive starter Dez Bryant.
Smith was the only Dallas player selected by the AP on its All-Pro team.
Since being drafted ninth overall in 2011, Smith has played in 47 of a possible 48 games for the Cowboys – all of them starts. He played right tackle as a rookie before making the switch to the left side in 2012.
Smith anchored a Cowboys offensive line that paved the way for the team’s first 1,000-yard rusher since 2006. The Cowboys’ line also allowed just 35 sacks on the year, which was the seventh-lowest total in the NFL.
