Could Dallas have gotten better in a loss? Dallas vs Oakland: The Aftermath
You normally don't feel good after a loss but today I think we can, outside of a costly penalty by Jason Witten the Offense did a nice job. The only negative was that it may have seemed like we strayed away from the run. That could be due to the fact we want to save Demarco Murray or we are testing things out offensively. Either way going from 170 yards against Miami to 70 yards against the Raiders goes against everything we said we were going to do.
So how could we have gotten better? Defense, this defense looks different. Last year we named the defense a Young Swarm, these first two preseason games not only are they swarming they are creating turnovers with the swarm. Sean Lee has a sack/fumble that Jason Hatcher recovered and JJ Wilcox came up with a interception. This defense has 2 interceptions when last years we had a total of 7, which is a good sign. The other good sign is that players not named DeMarcus Ware are making sacks hopefully when the season begins we can keep this up. Along with DeMarcus our defense should be a hell of a lot better than it was last year.
Now considering it was a loss there is definitely room for a improvment. The special teams has got to perform better. A blocked field goal and a fumble from B.W. Webb is unacceptable speaking of Webb saying he needs to step up is an understatement. As I said in a pre game post teams would look to Webb after the Miami game and thats what happened. Oakland looked to Webb and he was exposed. Webb is only gonna have 2 more game to try and make practice squad because at this rate the final 53 doesn't look like it's in his future.
