Dallas Cowboys up to No. 6 in NFL Power Rankings

According to the ESPN NFL Power Rankings, the Dallas Cowboys are the sixth-best team in the NFL after five weeks.

Too high?

We’ll find out over the next few weeks. On Sunday they play the top team in the rankings, the Seattle Seahawks. Russell Wilson is 18-1 as a starter at Century Link Field. Then they return to AT&T Stadium for three straight games against the New York Giants (No. 13), Washington Redskins (No. 26) and Arizona Cardinals (No. 10).

According to ESPN Stats & Information, the Cowboys have benefited from their opponents’ strength of schedule. Or the lack thereof. Only the Philadelphia Eagles (.348), Pittsburgh Steelers (.375), New England Patriots (.409) and San Diego Chargers (.409) have had easier strength of schedules so far than the Cowboys (.417).

The Cowboys’ remaining strength of schedule ranks 11th in the NFL with a .520 winning percentage.

This is the first time the Cowboys have cracked the Power Rankings’ top 10 since Week 14 of 2011 and the highest they have been since the opening week of the 2010 season, when they were fourth.

Just to note: After the season-opening loss to the San Francisco 49ers, the Cowboys were ranked No. 27.
