Practice report: Durant misses another day

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Justin Durant was not on the practice field during the portion of the session open to the media for the second straight day, testing coach Jason Garrett’s day-to-day proclamation.

A source said Durant could miss 3-4 weeks with a groin injury suffered last week against San Francisco, however, Garrett would not rule Durant out of playing Sunday against the Tennessee Titans. Rookie Anthony Hitchens worked in Durant’s spot for the second straight day.

The same four players who missed Wednesday’s workout are not practicing today: Durant, safety C.J. Spillman (groin), defensive end Anthony Spencer (knee) and tackle Darrion Weems (shoulder).

The Cowboys kept Spencer on the 53-man roster instead of putting him on the reserve/physically unable to perform list, which would have cost him the first six games of the season. Spencer is coming back from microfracture surgery on his left knee. The Cowboys believe he will play before the Oct. 12 meeting against the Seattle Seahawks but do not have a firm return in mind.
