Carr to miss Cowboys' preseason opener
The Dallas Cowboys do not expect cornerback Brandon Carr to report to training camp until after Thursday’s preseason opener against the San Diego Chargers.
Carr was granted personal leave because his mother, Kathy, was terminally ill. She died Wednesday at the age of 59 after a lengthy battle with breast cancer.
The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday in Carr’s hometown of Flint, Michigan. Coach Jason Garrett said Carr would likely arrive at training camp next weekend.
In other news, cornerback Morris Claiborne will do “probably not a whole lot” during Saturday afternoon’s practice.
Tendinitis flared up in Claiborne’s right knee during Wednesday’s practice. He sat out Thursday and hoped to be cleared to fully participate after Friday’s day off.
