Cowboys S Barry Church: practicing at Valley Ranch in summer is “similar to the Mojave Desert”
At the moment its 75 degrees with a gentle ocean breeze cooling things off here in Oxnard.
That compares to 97 degrees in Dallas with a heat index nudging 100.
So ask again why the Cowboys prefer to train in Southern California? Safety Barry Church was asked to by a TV reporter to describe what it would feel like if the Cowboys conducted training camp at Valley Ranch instead of here.
“It would be similar to the Mojave Desert,’’ Church said. “I mean, it’s pretty bad out there. You can barely breathe.
“I think it’s pretty bad for our health if we practice out there, so I’m glad we practice out here where we have a nice breeze and got the ocean right over there. It feels good.’’
We’ll check back with Church the third week in August after the Cowboys have broken camp and returned to Valley Ranch to prepare for their pre-season game against Miami.
