Dallas Cowboys: Evaluating the Wide Receivers Heading Into Camp

In a bit of a strange change from last season when they had just five wide outs on the 53-man roster, the Dallas Cowboys have 10 total wide receivers who they are currently evaluating for the team. It’s pretty safe to say that Dez Bryant, Terrance Williams, Dwayne Harris and, more than likely, Cole Beasley are all going to end up making the roster.

Harris is essentially locked in due to his impressive return skills, but that’s a wide receiver spot that’s taken, meaning that only one, possibly two more players will make it onto the actual team. One of those spots? Well, you have to assume that rookie Devin Street is going to make it on, unless he gets into camp and really just falls flat on his face, which I don’t expect.

Let’s not forget the fact that Harris is also a pretty solid wide out, so where does this leave the rest of the wide receivers trying out for the team? Do any of them have a realistic shot at making the roster. While there may be a dark horse who I simply missed out on, I think the one player who could really surprise us is an undrafted free agent signing in L’Damian Washington.

Washington comes from the Missouri Tigers, and we saw him put up an impressive 893 yards and 10 touchdowns last season. He has a ton of talent, and is 6-foot-4, but he definitely needs to add some weight, as he comes in at just 194 pounds. Adding muscle in the NFL isn’t a problem for many, and he could absolutely be a player who may surprise many and make it onto this Cowboys roster.
