Cowboys most underrated offensive player

This is the second part of our underrated series. The first article named an underrate player from the Cowboys defense. To view that article click here. Today we look at the offensive player on the Cowboys roster that is underrated.

You could make a case that the most underrated player on the Dallas offense could be a player from the offensive line. From a line that played pretty awful in 2012 any player that played decent could be seen as underrated.

If stats didn't matter, I would choose Travis Fredrick as the most underrated offensive player. Considering stats are not exciting (or rarely kept) for O-linemen a player from the skill position is the more sexy choice. 

The most underrated player on the Dallas Cowboys offense is;

DeWayne Harris

Dewayne Harris may not have the most explosive numbers on the Dallas roster from last year but his contributions were plentiful. You could see this in the games Harris missed facing Oakland Green Bay and Washington. Dallas struggled on special teams placing a combination of Micheal Spurlock, Cole Beasley and Terrance Williams to cover the void that Harris left. Spurlick is the only one that could even been considered as a player that could fill the shoes of Harris.

Harris only gained 88 yards as a receiver but out of Harris' 9 catches 2 were for touchdowns. This included a 9 yard game winning touchdown against the Vikings. Harris was the most versatile player on the roster. Harris was even a key component of kickoff returns, forcing fumbles and recording one.

The part of the field where Harris shows his worth is as a punt/kickoff returner. Harris only recorded one touchdown on punt coverage but he was critical in giving Dallas back he ball with good field position. Harris averaged 30.6 per kick return, which put Dallas over the 20 yard line in many drives. On punt coverage Harris averaged 12.8 yards and 256 total yards on punt team. Harris finished the season a yard shy of 1,200.
