Earlier today, OCC relayed Gil Brandt's words about the Cowboys and their pursuit of Aaron Donald. If Dallas wants the 3-technique tackle, they'll likely have to trade up to get him. As OCC noted, we all long for the early days of 2014 when everybody had Donald as a late-first, early-second round pick. But after the Senior Bowl and the combine, Donald has now moved up into Top-10 territory.
The Cowboys could always stay put, but if someone like Donald or Anthony Barr doesn't fall to them, I think I'd prefer if they moved back in the first round. Based on what Baltimore Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said today, they'll likely have teams trying to get up to the middle of the first round. Baltimore sits at pick #17, one behind Dallas after losing a coin-flip with the Cowboys.
Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome told reporters at his pre-draft press conference that teams have called them about the No. 17 overall pick, and that they’d entertain such an idea. In a draft deep in first-round receiver talent, it looks like a spot where a team looking for help there might move. While too low for Watkins (or Mike Evans), the next group of receivers could start flying off the board in that neighborhood. The Ravens have a history of doing business with the 49ers, and the 49ers need help at receiver, so keep an eye on that as a possibility.
The Cowboys also have a history of doing business with the 49ers, specifically last year. It can still be debated whether the Cowboys got enough enough to move dow
