Not so fast; Will Herring deal off
Former New Orleans Saints linebacker Will Herring agreed to a contract to join the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday.
Now that deal is off.
According to Todd Archer of the ESPNDallas.com, the two sides mutually agreed to walk away from the deal. Unlike Rodger Saffold with the Oakland Raiders and O’Brien Schofield with the New York Giants, the reason isn’t due to a failed physical.
Herring, a Saints’ special teams captain last season, remains a free agent.
Herring appeared in all 16 games for New Orleans in each of the last two seasons after signing as a free agent in 2011 following four years in Seattle. Herring played mainly on special teams and sparingly as a reserve linebacker. Herring started one game and had 13 tackles and an interception for the Saints on the year.
Over the course of his seven-year career, Herring has posted 144 tackles, three interceptions, three forced fumbles and one sack.
