Is the NFL ready for a healthy Dallas team?

.500 never felt so horrible. Maybe after seeing Chicago have sex with Jacksonville it should make us feel better. Until you look at our schedule.

Week 6 10/14/12 at Baltimore 1 PM
Week 7 10/21/12 at Carolina 1 PM
Week 8 10/28/12 NY Giants 4:15 PM
Week 9 11/4/12 at Atlanta 8:20 PM
Week 10 11/11/12 at Philadelphia 4:15 PM

Talk about murders row every team there is above .500 every team with the exception of the Panthers is leading their division. Every team is a loss waiting to happen and only one of those teams has to come down to Dallas.

There is ONLY one bright side after any NFL teams bye week. Health. Jason Witten gets and additional two weeks to heal his spleen, but the offensive side of the ball was not hit with a lot of injuries, it was the defense. Jay Ratliff comes back. This one piece is the most important part in the scheme we play, the 3-4 defense.

The 3-4 lives and dies with the nose tackle, with a healthy Jay Ratliff it frees up many of our own players. It allow DeMarcus Ware free range to wreak havoc on offense lines, Anthony Spencer is expected to come back too, hopefully his presence allow DeMarcus Ware to do more damage and letting Sean Lee become a LB on the loose. There is one more aspect of our defense these two healthy players affect which is the DB's. Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne have been nice pieces in Rob Ryan's system. They just have one downside, (which is not there fault) interceptions, these two young corners could not be asked to play any better. You could only say WHY CAN'T THEY PICK OFF THE BALL?

Well in the NFL you want your corners to NOT give up touchdowns. They have done that that. The reason they haven't made a play on the ball is because the want to focus on ONE thing, not giving up touchdowns. They have passed there test we know there good but now it's time to make plays on the ball and this is when the front seven helps that back four. With Ratliff, Ware and Spencer getting pressure on quarterback it allow for a quarterback to do the one thing he is told not to do. Make reckless pass attempts. Reckless pass attempt are what create interception not Defensive backs. (unless you happen to be number 20 and play for the Ravens)

Defense, defense is what wins in the NFL, defense is how to get it done with a healthy defense we can make noise late in the year. If our defense can carry us through these next five games AND in December you could see a different team. Usually we are a team that wins in September, October November and sputters through December and January, If we can make the transition from Fall's team to Winters team. We may finally be back to where the Packers were two years ago and the Saints three years ago and that's playing in February as AMERICA'S TEAM.
