After the Storm

If you read the post yesterday our game plan was consistent and it did work. Up to a point.

This is a piece of rope, The same rope that Tomy Romo and Jerry Jones gave to one Dez Bryant last night. If you saw the game, you should understand what he did with the rope. 8 catches and 105 yards is not bad but the mental mistakes killed us.

Lucky he still has 12 more games and maybe the rope will get shorter, maybe it will get longer. No matter how long the rope is by season end we will know who/ what Dez Bryant is. Yes Dez has a five year contract but if things do not change he may be playing on that contract for another team.

Maybe I'm being too hard on Dez, maybe the issue with that game was Tony Romo. Tony is the one who throws the ball and threw for 5 interceptions right? Three of  those turnovers were pure anomalies. Dez missed his route, 2 tip drills (I understand the QB gets interception stat), but when you throw the ball and your wide receiver DOESN'T catch it and it goes up and FALLS into a defenders hands HOW can you possibly blame a quarterback for that.

Miles Austin was not targeted a lot (4 receptions for 57 yards and a TD), Dez almost got every single ball that wasn't going to Witten (13 receptions for 112 yards and a TD). When Austin did get targeted we had a 10-7 games going into halftime.

Before the half we made Jay Cutler look like Jay Cutler. I do not know what was said to him by the coaching staff at the half but whatever it was it was good. We started to see the good Jay Cutler, the 1st round pick he knows he can be given the opportunity. That lead to him hitting Devin hester and putting Brandon Marshall in beast mode.

As far as our defense goes we did ok, to be honest other than scoring points (a la the Bears) you could not have asked for a better game from them. Claiborne stripped the ball (even though it did not hold up) you want to see good ball skills from your rookie CB. Ware only had one sack, we did presser Cutler a lot and a lot of sacks we did miss.

Did Romo miss two key touchdowns, YES, there were also time in the game where running should have been the right thing to do.

Tony Romo doesn't call plays Jason Garrett does and coming in to the 3rd quarter having Romo chuck it down field is not what we needed to do. In the first half Murray may not have had a good long run but it kept the defense honest and that what we needed being that the Bears would have loved to slow this game down and they did. Neither team had a running back that went over 55 yards or a rushing TD.

Romo was not hit a lot but was pressed all game (understandable). Does Romo make stupid plays yes, he has a little bit of the Brett Favre jean. They look like airhead mistakes like when he tried to make something out of nothing, by tossing it to Witten and it did not work out so well. Now on the flip side of things when Romo does take risks and it works no one says anything.

The great thing about this game was we now are on a bye week. Even tho Sexy Rexxy's baby bro had a hell of a game plan and adjusting because of the players that were out. We only allowed 3 point before the half and 17 points total.  A lot of crucial pieces come back after the bye week Jay ratliff, Barry Church, Kenyon Coleman and Anthony Spencer are expected to return.

With that said in two weeks we go to Baltimore, a test nonetheless but a test we can be a lot better prepared for.
