The next Laurent Robinson?

This post is an extension of the quarterback versus wide receiver topic. If you missed that post click here. Now if you use that theory to analyze the Dallas Cowboys. What do we have, a good to great receiver? 

Pick one of them Austin or Bryant, are they good possibly. Austin is inconsistent and we are patiently waiting for Bryant to grow up. Is either one great, not by a long shot, Do they make Tomy Romo a better quarterback, NO.

So now we have Tomy Romo is he good, YES. Is he great? Not sure, I mean in today's NFL unless you have won a super bowl, your nothing. As far as the theory,  Romo makes his receivers better, all of them. So who is next up?

Laurent Robinson swept the NFL and fantasy owners by surprise. He was such a big hit Jacksonville gave him a big bag of money. Jaguar fans how is that working out for you.

Tomy Romo made Laurent Robinson and he will make  another receiver, He made Miles Austin (undrafted free agent from Monmouth) where is Monmouth exactly? Oh yeah somewhere in New Jersey.

These are things good to great (elite) quarterbacks do, they make ANY receiver that he trust better. Trust to run the right routes, trust to make sure Tony doesn't throw tip picks (tip ball interceptions) and trust to make big plays. 

So who is the next   Laurent Robinson?

This guy Kevin Ogletree. Was this an easy answer yes and no. Ogletree is a good emerging player in our system. We have been waiting for him to be "that guy" for when the other two guys (Austin and  Bryant) are injured or just not having a good game.

Ogletree already has 2 touchdowns, 14 receptions for 200 plus yards in three games. Bad news is he will be a free agent after this season therefore if the cowboy front office doesn't make him a solid offer he will be gone. Now Romo can make anyone a receiver defensive coordinators have to plan for. So as far as wide receivers go we are good, there is no reason anyone needs to have that "who will be the cowboys 3rd  receiver " conversations.

Now if we happen to not continue on with Ogletree's contract (at the end of the season) look for new comers Dewayne Harris and Cole Beasley to be "next man up".
